Momu Kids Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Momu Kids is an app for children to draw, color, trace, practice letters and numbers,
and play with shapes and colors. This policy says plainly what leaves the device and what
stays on it. It is written to be read by a parent, not by a lawyer.
The account belongs to the grown-up
To use Momu Kids, the grown-up creates an account at the end of the welcome screens,
with Apple, with Google or with an email. The account keeps your family's credits,
subscription and packs, so they are not lost if you delete the app or change iPad. The
child never sees a sign-up screen and we do not ask children for sign-in details.
From the account we receive your email, and with Apple you can hide the
real one: Apple gives us a forwarding address and never shows us yours.
There is one optional use of that email: telling you about Momu news and
offers. It ships turned off. We only write to you about that if you turn the switch on, and
you can turn it off whenever you want from the parent area or from the link at the bottom of
every email. Your account and your purchases do not depend on that switch.
What stays on the device
- Your children's profiles: first name, age, and the emoji they picked.
- Every drawing, the coloring painted on top of it, and the stories.
- What the child traces, handwrites or solves in math. Strokes are checked on the iPad
itself, including recognizing the numbers they write: they are not sent to any server.
- Their stars and their day streak.
- The audio of the stories read out loud.
None of this is uploaded to the cloud. If you delete the app, it goes with it. That is
why the parent area includes a way to back everything up into a single file you keep
wherever you want.
What leaves the device
- What the child asked for. The subject text, for example "a dinosaur
at the beach", is sent to our server and from there to OpenAI to generate the drawing,
both for coloring and for tracing.
- The first name and the age. When creating a story, because the child
is the main character, and in math story problems ("Sofia has 4 balloons…"). For those
problems we also send a subject the child already asked to draw, so the story is about
something they like. The numbers and the answer are computed by the app, not by the AI.
- Photos you choose. Only if you use the feature that turns a photo into
a coloring page. The photo is sent, reviewed, converted into line art and returned.
We do not store it.
- Microphone audio. This is handled by iOS, not by us: Apple turns it
into text. We never receive or store a child's audio. Words the child dictates to
practice writing stay on the iPad.
- Your email, to identify your account, to give back what you purchased if
you change device and, only if you turned it on, to tell you about news.
- Your credit balance and its history. How many credits you have, and a
record of purchases, renewals and spending, so any billing question can be resolved.
- Activity numbers, once a day. How many drawings, stories, colored pages,
tracings, letter sheets, math rounds and shape games were done. Integers and nothing else:
never the child's name, never what they asked for, never what time they played. They add
up on the iPad and are sent together once a day, precisely so nobody's routine can be
reconstructed.
The shared cache
Children ask for very similar things. When someone asks for "a unicorn", the resulting
drawing is stored on our server under a key that is a mathematical digest of the subject,
so the next child who asks for the same thing gets it instantly and at no cost. That cache
holds only the line drawing. Photos and stories with names never go into it.
What we do not do
- There is no advertising. No banners, no videos, nothing.
- We use no third-party measurement or analytics. We count the activity numbers ourselves,
on our own server, and they pass through no other company.
- We do not sell or share data with anyone for commercial purposes.
- There are no links to social networks or outside sites inside the child's part of the app.
Who we work with
- Google Firebase. Accounts, database, functions and cache storage.
- OpenAI. Generates the drawings, writes the stories and the story
problems, and records the voice.
- Apple. Sign in with Apple, turns speech into text and processes payments.
We never see your card details.
- Google. Only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Children
This app is made for children. We do not ask them for personal data: the parent types
the first name and the age when creating the profile, and that is the only thing used to
personalize the drawings, the stories and the problems. We collect no location, no contacts
and no advertising identifiers. The parent area sits behind a math problem precisely so that
a small child does not get into it.
How to erase everything
In the app: parent area, Erase everything. That deletes the profiles,
the drawings and the stories from the device, and asks our server to delete your account,
your balance, its history and your household's activity numbers.
You can also write to us at momukids@gmail.com
and we will do it for you.
How long we keep things
- Your account, your balance and its history: for as long as you keep the account.
- The receipt of each Apple charge (a transaction number, no card details): kept even if
you delete the account, because it is what prevents the same purchase from being credited
twice.
- The shared cache drawings: indefinitely, because they contain nothing personal.
- Everything else lives on your device and you control it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date above. If the change is substantial, we say
so inside the app.
